Overview

We know Heraklion like the back of our hands! Born and raised in the city, we will proudly share with you the food gifts Crete’s capital has to offer. Our walking tour starts at a neighborhood café, where you’ll start the day as most Greeks do: with an Ellinikos (brewed Greek coffee) and a warm Bougatsa – a creamy custard pastry, sprinkled with cinnamon and icing sugar.

Next, we will visit the Open Market at the city’s heart. You’ll meet friendly vendors and taste various local specialties, including olives, cheeses, and herbs. Heraklion offers excellent traditional bakeries, and that’s our next stop to taste savory pies. The tour continues with stops at a well-known honey producer to taste the floral taste of local thyme honey

Cretans have relied on herbs for medicinal purposes for centuries. We will visit a historic herbal shop, where you can learn all about it! No food tour could end without the iconic Souvlaki, pork skewers served with pita bread, fresh tomatoes, and garlic yogurt. We know you’ll love this food experience as much as we do!
