Overview

This is your invitation to slow down and step into the authentic heart of Crete. Our private full-day rural tour starts in a peaceful village near Rethymno, where time seems to stand still and everyday life is lived in a traditional way. You’ll be greeted by warm locals, explore charming alleyways, and see first-hand how rural communities maintain ancient customs.

Our next destination is the Arkadi Monastery, a landmark closely linked to Cretan identity and resistance. Your guide will tell you the history of the monastery and give you an insight into the cultural pride that characterizes the island.

We then drive to the village of Margarites, famous for its ceramic art. You will stroll past pottery workshops, meet artisans and learn more about this centuries-old tradition. Then roll up your sleeves to get hands-on with bread baking, using local methods and ingredients — an interactive, sensory treat, followed by a leisurely lunch in a taverna, with traditional sweets and a shot of raki to finish.

Throughout the day, you’ll enjoy genuine hospitality, picturesque landscapes, and personal encounters that make this tour more than just sightseeing – it’s a cultural immersion led by people who live and breathe Crete.
